Front Desk was Excellent. Made sure I had a proper secure lock for my Locker. I will use these services again in the future if I need them

Terrible experience dealing with Steven at SmartStop Self Storage in Cochrane. When I emptied my unit, Steven refused to close my account because he claimed it wasn’t clean enough and threatened me with a $15 cleaning fee unless I came back to sweep it. I did exactly that, and I’ve attached the before-and-after photos. The difference is barely noticeable. It felt incredibly petty and unnecessary. The unit was already in good condition, yet they chose to make an issue out of what amounts to a tiny amount of dust. Rather than providing reasonable customer service, they focused on enforcing an unrealistic standard over a $15 cleaning fee. If this is how SmartStop treats customers when they’re moving out, I can’t recommend doing business here. There are plenty of storage companies that understand the difference between a genuinely dirty unit and one that’s been responsibly emptied. I’ll never use this location again. It was so easy to reserve my unit online. Website is easy to use. When I went in to the main office in Cochrane. I was greeted. Everything was explained to me. The account was extremely easy to set up. And the staff was exceptionally polite and helpful. I would definitely recommend this company and staff in Cochrane.

PLEASE READ!! MICE EVERYWHERE!! I will spare you the details of my 8 week nightmare with these guys, the main point is that none of the sealing strips along the bottom of their units are measured to the proper size. All have a straight cut on either side which means I can only assume they must have been knowingly installed that way. There were new droppings a week after my unit was "cleaned" (by the office staff, not by cleaners), droppings in empty units, not one single unit in my block (A block, in their secondary location) had a tight seal. I was initially told that they couldnt order me a new one as ordering 1 was not cost effective for the company, but they neglected to mention to me that they are in desperate need of a bulk order. For your health and sanity, please spend your money anywhere else!!!

One of the worst storage units the unit was a mess I had to clean it out before I could put my belongings in snow gets past the door and covered my belongings in snow. The staffs communication is horrible. I canceled my out door parking space I had 2 weeks remaining I moved my car and went to put it back and they had rented it to someone else so they got paid double for the same parking spot and didnt reimburse for the time I could not use the space I paid for. Don't support them this storage unit is a joke. For the first 2 months the gate codes didnt not work and everyone had the same code. The gate works when it wants to and they have zero urgency to fix it. I was stuck in the storage yard 3 or 4 times even when they replaced the code pads the gate was still broken and I got stuck again inside the storage yard again the office was closed so I had to use the key pad on the outside of the gate to get my vehicle out of the unit. You can get in but cant get out... like I said this location in Cochrane alberta is a complete joke from the staff to the the gate from day one DO NOT RECOMMEND
