I recently went to U-Haul to get a trailer hitch installed. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful, and I had a good experience overall. However, my experience with Shawn, the hitch installation technician, was disappointing. I was quoted around $333 for the hitch, and Shawn mentioned that the installation would take 4–5 hours. I felt that this was an extremely long time for a hitch installation. I decided to get a second quote from Hilltop Trailers and Hitch Services. They offered a similar hitch for around $300, with installation costing only about $100. That’s less than half of what U-Haul quoted me. This made me wonder: are we paying that much more simply because of the U-Haul brand name? Or does U-Haul need to reconsider its hitch installation pricing or perhaps have someone else handle these installations? I want to emphasize that the other U-Haul staff I dealt with were great. My concern is specifically with the hitch installation experience and the installation time mentioned by Shawn. I ultimately went with Hilltop, and so far I’ve had a very good experience with them. My advice is to get a second quote before committing to a hitch installation at U-Haul.

I had a very disappointing experience with U-Haul at this location. This is second time in a week happening to me. Even though I stayed within the allowed mileage and returned the vehicle on time, I was still charged extra fees that were never clearly explained upfront. The final bill did not match what I was expecting based on the original agreement. There seems to be a lack of transparency in how charges are calculated, which makes it hard to trust the pricing. Customers should not have to double-check every detail to avoid unexpected costs. I strongly recommend reviewing your receipt carefully if you rent from here. Overall, not a good experience and I would think twice before using this location again.

This has happened 3 times now! We made a reservation to rent a truck in Truro and they tried to change it on us so we would have to got to Halifax to pick it up! Do these guys have any sense at all? We're not going all the way to Halifax to rent a truck and go all the way back to drop it off. That's ridiculous! Uhaul do us a favor and develop some brain cells and stop trying to screw us over!
