My Experience With U-Haul on Walker Road, Windsor — Please Be Careful I want to share my recent experience with U-Haul on Walker Road in Windsor so others can make an informed decision. Last Friday, I rented a haul truck from U-Haul on Walker Road to move some belongings from their location to my premises on Ottawa Street. I was told the truck had about ¼ tank of gas when I picked it up. According to their own odometer, I drove the truck only about 5 km in total. Before returning the truck, I even put $5 worth of gas into it. When I returned the vehicle, nobody mentioned any issue with the fuel level. However, the next day I was shocked to see that I had been charged $18 for fuel plus a $30 service fee. I contacted them and explained my concern: if I had driven their truck only about 5 km, how could $5 of fuel possibly be insufficient? How can I be charged $18 for additional fuel and another $30 service fee when the vehicle was returned without any issue being raised? What disappointed me even more was the way my concern was handled. Instead of providing a reasonable explanation or reviewing the charge, I was simply told, “It’s our policy.” The attitude was rude and there was no meaningful explanation. For me, this is not just about $48. It is about fairness, transparency and how customers are treated. A company should be able to clearly explain a charge, especially when the numbers don’t seem to make sense. I am sharing this experience so that others renting from this location are aware and carefully document the fuel level, odometer reading and condition of the vehicle before and after the rental. Based on my experience, I would personally avoid this U-Haul location . Seems like they are cheaters… Customers deserve transparency and fair treatment—not unexplained charges followed by “it’s our policy.”

I had a very disappointing experience at this U-Haul location. 1508 Walker Rd Windsor ON N8W 3P4 Canada The truck I received was very dirty inside and out. When I pointed this out to the employee, he said, “It’s clean enough.” That response was unprofessional and far below the level of customer service I expected. I was also surprised by how expensive the per-kilometre charge was. The biggest issue, however, was the fuel policy. I received the truck with half a tank of fuel and returned it with approximately three-quarters of a tank to avoid any issues. Even though I returned more fuel than I received, I was told there would be no credit or refund for the extra fuel. I felt the fuel policy was unfair. I believe it can easily cause customers to lose money because there is no practical way to return a vehicle with the exact same amount of fuel. Unless you stop at a gas station immediately before returning the truck and somehow know the precise amount needed, you’re left guessing—and that often means paying for fuel you won’t be reimbursed for. My advice to anyone renting from this location is to inspect the vehicle carefully, take photos before leaving, document the fuel level, and make sure you fully understand all charges and policies before signing the agreement. Based on my experience, I will not rent from this location again.

​Unprofessional and complete waste of time! ​I went to this Walker Road location to order a hitch for my 2015 Tacoma. They took my credit card info to place the order, and after a 10-day wait, the hitch finally arrived. I brought my truck in for the installation, but after just loosening a few bolts on the back, the staff stopped and claimed their air compressor was broken and they couldn't finish the job. They told me it would be fixed the following week and promised to call me. ​I waited patiently, but never received a single update. When I went back to check on the status, they casually informed me that they had canceled my order because the compressor still wasn't fixed! To make things worse, they had actually sold my hitch to someone else! ​While they didn't end up charging my card, they completely wasted weeks of my time, showed zero customer communication, and had terrible organization. Avoid this place if you value your time!

The Walker Rd location in Windsor, Ontario was the BEST! Katie, Nathan, Cin and everyone else at that storage facility was AMAZING! I cannot speak highly enough about their professionalism, their kindness, their personalized touch to facilitate our rental. From start to finish…….they treated us like royalty. I would 💯 recommend this location to anyone and everyone for their moving truck rental, storage unit rental or moving equipment needs. They have it all!! Thank you.
